Reporting to the VP, Tax, the Tax Senior Manager - Indirect, State & Local will lead all aspects of the indirect tax function responsible for US tax compliance, reporting and tax accounting. You will play a key role in developing internal tax processes and tax planning strategies to help scale the existing function and address tax challenges generated by increased domestic growth.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Prepare and lead the consolidated quarterly and annual state and local income tax provision calculations and tax disclosures, including discussions with third-party consultants and tax auditors
  • Lead the data collection, preparation and filing of all state and local income and franchise tax returns, including the calculation/processing of quarterly estimated and annual extension tax payments
  • Lead the data collection and preparation of the Company’s allocation and apportionment for sales/income, payroll and property
  • Oversee the indirect tax functions and team members, including sales & use tax, business licenses, annual reports, Forms 1099, state tax audits and communications with third-party providers
  • Monitor legislative changes in US state tax laws (i.e., rates, rules, conformity to Federal) that may impact the Company’s tax positions, including tax accounting implications
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to reduce tax expense, eliminate tax exposures/reserves, minimize audit deficiencies, and maintain a competitive effective tax rate
  • Identify and drive process improvement projects within the corporate tax function and across other areas/teams within accounting and the business
  • Evaluate the impact of acquisitions and legal entity changes on the Company’s state tax footprint, integrating them into the Company’s processes
  • Collaborate with outside tax advisors on various projects
  • Effectively track progress of key initiatives 

Qualifications

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Accounting; C.P.A. required
  • Master’s degree in taxation preferred
  • 8+ years of corporate tax experience; 4+ years of progressive experience in public accounting
  • Experience leading and developing a team of tax accountants
  • Expertise in income tax compliance and accounting (ASC 740)
  • Experience in indirect tax areas, preferred
  • Strong aptitude for identifying and implementing process improvements, including the use of new tax technology and automation tools.
